Herkimer NY is a village located about halfway between Syracuse and Albany in the eastern half of New York State.  It’s about 15 miles EAST of Utica. It is just north of the Mohawk River.  The Mohawk River serves as the Erie Canal and/or NYS Barge Canal at various locations.

Herkimer is home to Erie Canal Cruises.  You can see reviews/ info on Tripadvisor.  It’s very convenient to get to get to from the Thruway (Exit 30).
